FOOTBALL: Manchester United knocked out of FA Cup, United 1-3 Chelsea

Both Manchester clubs have now been knocked out from FA Cup in space of two days. Yesterday saw Arsenal beat Manchester City 2-0, tonight Manchester United suffered same fate after Chelsea’s 1-3 victory.

Chelsea will now take on Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium on August 1st.

The Blues took the lead at 45+ 11′ mins when Olivier Giroud slotted in Cesar Azipuetta’s cross. After the break, Chelsea doubled their lead through substitute Mason Mount at 46′ minute. Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea making two errors resulting in both goals. Eric Bailey sustained a head injury and was stretched off.

More miserable was added for the Red Devils when Harry Maguire scored an own-goal at 74′ minute.

United however got a consolation goal when Anthony Martial was brought down in the penalty box. Bruno Fernandes stepped up and converted it. (85′ minute)

It finished: Manchester United 1-3 Chelsea. Ed Woodward’s face looked very unpleasant at the final whistle.
