Sevilla are crowned UEFA Europa League winners for the 6th time, after 3-2 victory over Inter Milan in the final.
Brace from De Jong and a Lukaku own-goal gave the Spanish side the trophy. A very thrilling final as both teams produced four goals in 36mins. Romelu Lukaku giving Antonio Conte’s team the lead with a converted penalty at just 5mins (His 34th goal of the season), Luuk de Jong leveled for Sevilla at 12mins. The Dutchman then gave Julen Lopetegui’s men the lead with his second goal. Diego Godin leveling the scoreline once again before halftime with a header.
Second half, at the 74th minute…Lukaku was in the wrong place at the wrong time, as he accidentally redirected Diego Carlos overhead-kick into Inter’s net.
Inter Milan could’ve scored a third goal at the 82nd minute when substitute Victor Moses first and then Alexis Sanchez tried to prod from six yards, until Jules Kounde performed a goal-line clearance. Very heartbreaking moment for the Italian side.
It finished: Sevilla 3-2 Inter
