Cristiano Ronaldo was absent from the Ballon D’or ceremony last night as the Juventus star was awarded Best Serie A Player of the Season 2018/2019.
Since his debut for Italian giants Juventus,Cristiano Ronaldo has 21 goals and 8 assists to his name. The annual award was held at Gran Gala del Calcio in Milan.
Ronaldo was also named in Serie A Best XI of the 2018/19 season.
He posted a picture on Instagram to celebrate his Serie A awards.
The caption,in Italian, says: “For me it is a pride to be the best player in the Serie A. I thank my fellow Juve players and all the players who voted for me. Last year was my first year in Italy, a difficult championship but I’m very happy. And I want to make it the same as last year.”
The annual award was given at the same time Lionel Messi was awarded his 6th Ballon D’or trophy. Former Ballon D’or winner Luka Modric spoke on Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence from the ceremony.
“When you don’t win,you have to be there to show respect. This is football”.
