FOOTBALL: Italy crowned Euro 2020 Champions, defeated England on penalties

It’s coming Rome! Italy win first Euro in over 50yrs. Gigi Donnarumma the biggest hero as the shot-stopper saved two penalties. Awarded “Euro Player of the Tournament”, thanks to his outstanding performances throughout the competition.

First half goal from England’s Luke Shaw (2mins) and Second half equalizer from Italy’s Leonardo Bonucci (66mins) sent the match into extra time; then penalty shootouts.

Italy defeated England 4-3 on penalties to lift their 2nd European Championship title; stunning England in their home stadium (Wembley).

Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho both were subbed-in at extra time, specifically to take a spot-kick…both missed for England. Belotti and Jorginho couldn’t convert for Italy. Jorginho could’ve fired Italy to victory if he scored…but Donnarumma then saved Saka’s penalty…crowning Italy as Champions of Euro 2020. (Their first Euro title was in 1968)
