Not a sweet night for Chelsea coach Frank Lampard and his boys as Manchester United ran 2-0 winners at Stamford Bridge. Amazing night for Bruno Fernandes who provided an assist and nearly-scored a freekick but was stopped by the bar.
Ngolo Kante was subbed off just 13mins into the match due to injury. Manchester United drew first blood when Anthony Martial headed pass Willy Caballero. Wan Bissaka pulled a stunning dribble over Willian at the right flank before crossing the ball for Martial to open scoring. Michy Batshuayi wasted numerous opportunities for the home side Chelsea.
Second half saw two VAR dramas for the blues as Zouma’s goal was canceled when a Manchester United player was fouled. United then doubled their lead when Bruno Fernandes’ corner spotted Harry Maguire who headed superbly into the back of the net.
Substitute Olivier Giroud came in for Batshuayi,the french striker found the back of the net through a sweet header but VAR again canceled the goal as Giroud was spotted “offside”.
Chelsea players got annonyed by the VAR decisions,many fights started,yellow cards were flashed.
United could’ve added a third goal when debutant Odion Ighalo saw his one-on-one chance blocked by Caballero.
It finished at Stamford Bridge: Chelsea 0-2 Manchester United.
