What is NEXT for Lionel MESSI after Retirement from Football

“I’m aware of how old I am,” said the Barcelona superstar after being awarded his 6th Ballon d’Or by France Football in 2019.
“And I enjoy these moments so much because I know that retirement is approaching. Time flies.”

Messi added: “I hope, God willing, that I keep playing for many more years. I’m now 32, though, and will be 33 at the end of the season, so, as I said, everything depends on how I feel physically.

“Right now I feel better than ever on a physical and a personal level, and I hope I can go on for a lot longer.”

Lionel Messi has been entertaining football fans and breaking/setting records for many years now…but what happens when he hangs up his boot?

Goal takes a look at what lies ahead for the Argentine.

• Coaching: Messi has huge influence in dressing rooms at both Barcelona and Argentina. He’s also the captain of both teams and regularly consulted by his coaches about tactical decisions.

• Focus on business interests and endorsements: Messi is a global star and ambassador for big brands like Pepsi,Adidas and many more. He will probably continue serving as the face of their products for a while.

• Football Pundit: Footballers after hanging up their boot and still love to be closer to the game, take up roles as pundits on TV. Messi is not really the outspoken type but opinions from the GOAT himself would be loved by fans.

• Return to childhood club: Leo has always hinted of his desire to return to the club it all started from…Newell’s Old Boys in Rosario. A dream he would love to fulfill but the problem is relocating his family from Barcelona.

“It’s a dream I’ve had since I was little,” said Messi. “But I have a family, I have three children, I live in a place that has given me everything and where I am calm and can give my children a spectacular future.

“We think much more about that than my desire of playing football in Argentina. I will try to convince the family, because today we have to convince the children too.”

Nevertheless, after Lionel Messi retires…it seems more likely he will remain involved in football one way or another.
