FOOTBALL: Cristiano Ronaldo breaks free-kick drought in Juventus 4-1 victory over Torino

After 43 attempts, Cristiano Ronaldo finally scored his first free-kick goal for Juventus.

“I really needed that free-kick goal so I could get some confidence back,” confessed Ronaldo to Sky Sport Italia.

 

“We knew it would be a difficult game, but we worked hard, won and are now putting pressure on Lazio. We achieved the objective today.”

The Portuguese star broke the drought at the 61st minute in Juventus 4-1 win over Torino. Ronaldo becomes the first player to score 25 Serie A goals in a season for Juventus since Omar Sivori (1961). Ronaldo also the first player to score 25+ league goals in Serie A, La Liga and Premier League.

Paulo Dybala with the opening goal at just 3mins, Juan Cuadrado doubling their lead through an assist from Ronaldo. Andrea Belotti pulled one back for the visitors from a penalty before halftime. Second half saw Cristiano Ronaldo score his stunning free-kick goal while an own-goal from Koffi Djidji made it four goals for Juventus.

A special moment for Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon who made his record 648th Serie A appearance. It finished: Juventus 4-1 Torino.

Juve now seven points above second place Lazio.
