Liverpool kissed goodbye to EFL Cup after a 5-0 thrashing by Aston Villa. Due to the Reds first team in Qatar for their Club World Cup,the premier league table leaders fielded a team made of entirely youngsters and reserves (average age of 19 years and 182 days).
Aston Villa took advantage of the opportunity by sealing their place in the EFL Cup semi-finals
with a very easy win. Liverpool young team conceaded 4 first half goals (including an own-goal) with the 5th goal at the closing stages of the match.
Nevertheless,the young Liverpool squad who lost the match were praised by the fans,club legends and coach Neil Critchley
who took charge of the team as Klopp and the senior squad prepare for their Club World Cup semi-finals.
