Poetry Friday Line 18: CONTINUATION

CONTINUATION

Lo! At a point,
I got tired of myself
I even gave myself a forceful retirement
I had my reasons
Life too, was asking many questions
So, I thought I had the climax of my life
Until the bell rang again
“It’s time to continue…

Ikise,
Questions that are asked
Are not asked for the questions
Likewise, answers that are given are not given for the answers
But all for the satisfaction of it’s appropriateness
So then, if you answer one, answer two,
If three is hard,
Skip and continue…

There are so many questions,
That dwelling on one may cost you a thousand
But what about the one that worths a thousand?
Which is preferable?
A thousand that worths one?
Or the one that worths a thousand?
Wisdom is only the application of the functions of the mind.
It is success that satisfies the mind
And remember,
Nothing is in motion except it continues….”
-Ikise Atabang.

I STILL REMEMBER…
I still remember every moment we shared together.
Every laughter, Every single smile with your dimpled cheek.
I still remember how opulent your voice is.
How radiant your eyes are when looking directly into mine.
Like a blood, it lingers in my memory.
Like a lizard in a glass container, it’s stuck in there.

I still remember the times we shared under the mango tree, where you told me the stories your mum told you when you were younger.
I still remember How I laughed at your dry jokes.
Looking at you, nothing else matters, nobody else matters.

The day we had our first hug, Your soft mounds pressed on to me and I felt your heartbeat while the scent of your hair filled my nostrils.
You told me it felt amazing And you didn’t want to let go.
I still remember…

The nights we laid on our back gazing up at the half moon is still fresh in my memory.
What about that night we tasted each other’s lips, I told you what you ate likewise you.
Do you remember? I told you it was my first time.
You were my first love.

You promised we’re gonna spend the rest of our lives together
Go places together.
That we’re gonna have three kids.
I’d always remember.

Why?….Why did you lie to me?
Why did you leave me all alone in this wicked world?
There are so many questions I need to ask you
but my paper has been soggy in tears…
-Valcee.
