Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy backs Lionel Messi to win the 2019 Ballon D’or. The winner will be announced on December 2nd,with players Virgil van Dijk,Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo leading the race.
Building up to the ceremony,many footballers both past and present have their say on their top 3 Ballon D’or candidates from the 30 nominees. But the former Los Blancos man who played with Cristiano Ronaldo at both Manchester United and Real Madrid believes nobody is close to Lionel Messi as the best footballer in the world.

“Nobody comes close to Messi. Tell me who… Cristiano (Ronaldo) is a goal scorer, (Andres) Iniesta is a brain, (Mohamed) Salah, (Sadio) Mané, (Eden) Hazard and (Kylian) Mbappé are excellent players, but Messi is all that together.”
Lionel Messi stands a huge chance of picking up his 6th Ballon D’or after exceptional individual brilliance last season. Helping Barcelona win La Liga;Leo was also the highest goalscorer in the Champions League and La Liga. Messi has already been awarded the FIFA Best Men’s footballer of the year and also his 6th golden shoe.
