Liverpool’s Alisson Becker awarded Champions League Goalkeeper of the Season.
Former Ajax now Barcelona player Frenkie De Jong awarded Champions League Midfielder of the Season
Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk awarded Champions League Defender of the Season.
Barcelona’s Lionel Messi awarded Champions League Forward of the Season.
Lucy Bronze awarded Uefa Women’s Player of the Year.
Virgil van Dijk also awarded UEFA Men’s Player of the Year.
Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus was seated at the event. The Portuguese captain was amongst the 3 nominees for the UEFA Men’s Best Player Award alongside Lionel Messi and eventual winner Virgil van Dijk.
When asked about his footballing battle with Messi,Ronaldo quoted: “It’s good to be a part of the history of football”.
Cristiano Ronaldo: “We’ve shared the stage for 15 years. We’ve not had dinner together yet, but I hope to in future”. We push each other forward.
Both Messi and Ronaldo were pictured together at the event with smiles and respect for each other. Seems both Messi and Ronaldo were happy to meet again.
