Poetry Friday Line 6: A LOVING HEART

Raw Talent Miners (RTM)
Presents
Poetry Friday Line 6: A LOVING HEART

A LOVING HEART

There’s a whole multi verse behind your eyes
Kazillion ideas in your head
Feelings coursing through my veins with the speed of light
And, you are like you have never been before.

I could smell you from a mile
I could taste our moments together
I dreamt of your kisses while wide awake
A thousand wild fires couldn’t even come close to the feeling of your touch
You were my ultimate lover
I loved you because and I loved you despite
I wanted more to live with you than die for you.

I thought about all of this as I fell into the oblivion of your gaze
But you didn’t have the slightest idea about any of this.
Was it the fear of losing what wasn’t even mine yet?
Or the fear of getting what I wanted?
They say, ‘there’s no harm in trying’
But it hurts like hell when you try and fail

You know what?
I’d just love you in the best way possible.
A thousand miles away from you
In my heart
With the truth closed up away behind my eyes.

INTEGRITY NOT CHRISTIANITY

My dear female friend,
I can’t lure you into having an affair with me
Not because I’m a Christian
No, I’m driven by integrity
After all, I know of a fellow that does it
We are together in this hypocritical profession called Christianity.

My dear student,
I can’t victimise you with my course in order to take advantage of your failure
Remember, it’s not because I’m a Christian
No, I’m driven by self-respect
After all, I have a colleague that does it
We are together in this theoretical profession called Christianity.

My dear chorister,
I can’t betray the ‘Daddy’ you call me to a hotel room
It’s not because I’m your pastor
No, I’m driven by the fear of God
After all, I know of a ‘public saint’ that does it
He’s also a member in this title seeking profession called Christianity.

My dear client,
I can’t mismanage your money and give you a lesser quality
Still not because I’m a Christian
No, that trust is too much
If not, I know of a mate that does it
He’s a leader in this political profession called Christianity.

My dear future wife,
I will not give you half of my children to also sponsor
Not because I’ll be a Christian husband to you
No, I understand the responsibility of a man
Else, I know of many Christian husbands that do it
Most of them own congregations in this ‘Who is more famous’ profession called Christianity.

My dear helpable,
I can’t just send you away with the ubiquitous ‘Don’t worry, the Lord will provide!’
Not because I’m your Christian brother
No, I’m driven by love
After all, I know of others who despite how wealthy they are,
Their pin can never enter your hand
They are also your brothers in this selfish profession called Christianity.

Finally, my dear fans,
I choose not to bore you with so much religious write ups
Not because I’m not spiritual
No, I decide to live a balanced life
After all, I know of many who have announced they are tired of this excessive pretense
Some were the most spiritual writers in this fictitious profession called Christianity.

For those who haven’t heard this,
Ikise Atabang is exclusively driven by integrity
Not by the Christianity that has been professionalised.

DEMEANOR

Just take a look at you
Always trying to run me down
Hating me always too
N’er a smile always a frown

The story of my long life
Is one filled with strife
And my surname is plight
And I have no might

Nevertheless, I promise to fight
I’ll hang on to hope very tight
I’ll make it whatever which way
I’ll make it whatever you say.
