In coming days,Liverpool and Bayern Munich will do battles in the Champions league but there’s another summer battle between the two decorated clubs. Its the battle of who signs Leipzig’s striker Timo Werner ⚽🇩🇪?
One of the most exciting strikers in the Bundesliga. Timo Werner of RB Leipzig is popular amongst the team and fans in Germany with Liverpool Coach Jurgen Klopp also a big fan of the german youngster.
Liverpool have been linked with Werner for the past few weeks as the Reds plan to offload either Origi or Daniel Sturridge. But Leipzig Coach has warned Werner concerning a move to Anfield stating it might not be an ideal one using the case of former teammate Naiby Keita. Keita has been struggling since his move to Liverpool only making an assist in 22 appearances. Before his premier league move, the midfielder scored 17 goals in his two seasons playing with Timo at Red Bull Arena.
Werner this season has scored 11 goals in 19 league appearances for Leipzig and could suit Liverpool’s style of play.
Timo Werner’s contract at Leipzig remains only 18 months and he’s very unlikely to sign a contract extension. German giants Bayern Munich are also keen on signing the forward. Bayern over the past years have snatched the best players from opposing Bundesliga teams and Werner is next. Considering the young German forward has similar qualities to ageing polish killer striker Lewandowski,Bayern will definitely want Timo secured as his future replacement and Germany’s front man.
One fact is certain,22 year old Timo Werner will leave RB Leipzig soon. The club will try their best to keep him but they know he can earn more elsewhere.
Its up to the forward to decide next season either staying at Leipzig, joining Liverpool or champions Bayern?
For klopp: Signing Werner means Liverpool will play a 4-man all attack formation upfront featuring Timo as the main striker,Firmino dropping back to attacking midfield role while Salah,Mane or from the bench Shaqiri operate on the wings. Plus Klopp is known to develop young footballers into World class standards like his days with Mario Gotze at Dortmund.
For Bayern Munich: Signing Werner their country man means Lewandowski is free to leave when we wishes or when his services is no longer needed. Lewy is in his 30s and signing Timo secures Bayern’s future No.9 position. Also Werner,Kimmich,City’s Sane as well as other German youngsters across Europe are key to German’s next generation footballers therefore the only way for Werner to reach the top in football is by playing close to home at FC Bayern just like Mbappe of PSG.
So the battle is on! Who signs Timo Werner before summer? Liverpool or Bayern?
